The Winton British Chess Solving Championship 2024 took place on Saturday 19 February at Harrow School. 

David Hodge won the championship, retaining his 2023 title.

Professor Jonathan Mestel, a former World Chess Solving Champion, took second place and newcomer Audrey Kueh came third.

The competitors tried to solve chess problems such as “white to play” and “force mate in three moves" against the clock. Points are awarded for how much of the solution the solver finds.  The only problem that none of the competitors fully solved correctly was the second endgame study (by Zachodjakin).
