The University of Cambridge treats CIC as its 'preferred investor' and is its largest shareholder, owning about a third of the company.
CIC have invested £33m to date, backing the likes of Origami Energy, a company that applies intelligent forecasting of energy usage in order to improve the efficiency of electricity grids; Congenica, a company that develops software to decode genetic diseases from DNA data; and Jukedeck, which applies artificial intelligence to music composition to create unique backing tracks for videos and games.
The investment in CIC reinforces Winton’s strong ties with the University of Cambridge and the UK’s scientific community.
