The £650 million Francis Crick Institute is the biggest biomedical laboratory in Europe and is investigating the fundamental biology underlying human health and disease. It is a large-scale collaboration involving the Medical Research Council (MRC), Cancer Research UK, Wellcome, University College London, Imperial College London and King's College London.

Winton Philanthropies provided funding to establish the Winton Bioinformatics Suite which will house Professor Nicholas Luscombe and Dr Peter Van Loo, the Winton Group Leaders, along with other senior scientists and PhD students.
